Many new groups and shelters were successfully activated for the Challenge today.
If you have not registered your group or shelter yet, here's a few ways to speed up the process:
- Check and make sure that your group does not have a listing already before you start. You don't want to have multiple active listings as this could split your vote.*
Wait three to four business days for activation of a new listing -- do not create a second or third listing. Creating multiple listings slows down activation because we need to contact you and find out which one is correct.
Be sure to fill out all the fields as completely as possible. If you are based in the United States, you must be a 501(c)3 or a Municipal Shelter to participate.**
- Be sure to complete the Tax ID field with a current, IRS-recognized 501(c)3 number or Municipal Shelter EIN. If it is blank or incomplete, or contains something else (like a phone number or email), your listing will not be activated.
Once your listing is active, you will be able to edit your shelter or rescue group page. Follow the directions here.
Do not register a group if you are not an official representative. Many groups are having their official registrations delayed because well-meaning voters are registering them and not telling them that they did this. If your group isn't listed yet, send the administrator the link to the registration page.

**International shelters are also eligible to participate! Just include the non-profit Tax ID appropriate to your country for verification.
